New Delhi: With Independence Day ahead, six people have been arrested for their alleged involvement in arms and ammunition smuggling government officials said today.

A large quantity of firearms including 2,000 rounds of ammunition have been recovered from them government officials said.

The accused have been arrested from Anand Bihar in the national capital along with 2 bags full of ammunition. The police said that a case has been registered and the investigation of the incident is going on.

As India’s 75th Independence Day is being celebrated on August 15, security has been tightened in all parts of the national capital, Delhi. Police are patrolling and searching vehicles.

The police said that strict security arrangements have been made in all the sensitive areas of Delhi, including metro stations, railway stations, airports and markets.

Law and Order Special Commissioner of Police Dependra Pathhak also said that on the occasion of Independence Day, more than 10,000 policemen will be deployed on the roads leading to the Red Fort and on the roads leading to the Independence Day celebrations. We have built a flawless and reliable security system for that day.
