Kabul: According to a recent survey, 69% of Afghan citizens believe that India is Afghanistan’s best friend.
The Brussels-based news website ‘EU Reporter’ reported that the survey collected data on the past, current situation and future aspirations of Afghan residents to find out their attitudes.
According to the collected data, 67% of Afghans believe that Pakistan and China encouraged the Taliban to take over Kabul due to the untimely US withdrawal from Afghanistan.
However, they believe that Afghanistan’s relationship with India is still strained. The two countries have very ancient historical and cultural ties.
India has become the 5th largest aid donor in the world to Afghanistan with an aid of 3 billion dollars. India has provided assistance to Afghanistan in many areas such as infrastructure construction, medical aid and food. India also gifted the beautiful Parliament building in Kabul. Afghans are coming to India for treatment. A large number of Afghan students enroll in Indian colleges and universities. The Indian Military Academy regularly admits Afghan cadets.
The above survey was conducted in the months of March, April and May this year.
