Kabul: At least 8 people were killed and 18 injured in an explosion in a residential area in western Kabul, Afghanistan, police said.
Police spokesman Khalid Jordan said that the explosion took place in a crowded place.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the blast, which targeted the indigenous Hazara community. According to local Afghan media reports, ISIS targeted women and children who had gathered in front of the mosque for prayers.
According to Ariana News, one of the explosions took place near the Imam Bakbir Masjid meant for women in Sar-e-Karija area.
However, “ISIS” said in a statement that 20 people were killed in this attack, the news agency “Reuters” reported.
Videos of the blast site posted on social media show people rushing to help the injured.
