India criticized China and Pakistan at the United Nations meeting for their anti-terrorism policy

Ambassador Ruchira explained, "It is becoming difficult to impose sanctions because of the ongoing policy and politicization." It is my hope that all members of the UN Security Council should immediately agree to a joint fight against international terrorism

New Delhi: India’s permanent ambassador to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj, said, “It is a matter of great regret that some of the most notorious terrorists in the world are being prevented from being listed as terrorists, even though real and evidence-based information has been provided.”

Earlier this year, China banned Pakistan’s Lashkar-e-Taiba second-in-command, Abdul Rehman Makki, on the UN list. The ‘technical’ ban imposed by China will remain in force for another six months. In the past too, Beijing had banned the listing of Jaish-e-Ahmed’s Maulana Masood Azhar. As a result, it took almost 10 years for New Delhi to designate Azhar as a terrorist under the UN.

Talking about Pakistan, Ruchira indirectly said that the neighboring country is hosting terrorists even though it is listed in the 1267 “Sanctions Committee” of the UN Security Council.

Notably, the UN 1267 Committee has listed the largest number of Pakistanis as international terrorists. It has listed many terrorists like Masood Azhar, Hafiz Saeed, Zaki ur Rehman Lakhvi. Most of them have led to terrorist attacks in India.

Addressing the UN Security Council meeting, Ruchira announced that India will hold a special session on counter-terrorism at the UN in Mumbai and Delhi on October 28 and 29.
