Members of protesting associations are demanding an independent probe by central agencies.

The Women’s Trinamool Congress has been protesting on the streets, alleging that central agencies like the CBI and the ED are acting one-sidedly. Workers and supporters of the organization will march from the Birla Planetarium in Kolkata to the Gandhi statue on Mayo Road on Thursday. This march is not only against the central agencies, but the hike in cooking gas prices, the release of the 11 convicts who were sentenced to life imprisonment in the Bilkis case, etc.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Monday that the state government will provide Rs 60,000 each to 43,000 Durga Puja committees. Besides, this year, the government employees will have Puja leave from September 30 to October 10.

Strongly opposing the Chief Minister’s decision, Dilip said, Puja atmosphere is being created to divert attention from corruption.
