53rd IFFI 2022 Goa: This year, 280 films from 79 countries will be screened at the festival

Goa: The 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is going to be held in Goa from November 20 to 28. This annual film festival will be attended by many prominent personalities from the film world. It houses a collection of art, film and culture. This year, 280 films from 79 countries will be screened at the festival. 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films will be screened at ‘Indian Panorama’. 183 films will be screened in the international program.

On this occasion, the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Spanish film director Carlos Saura. France has been included as the ‘spotlight’ nation this time and eight French films will be screened in the Country Focus package. The opening film of the festival will be the Austrian film Alma & Oscar, directed by Dieter Barner.

The 53rd IFFI is to be watched virtually. Registered users can participate in masterclasses. Even if they are away from Goa, they can participate in the inaugural and inauguration ceremonies, panel discussions and brainstorming events.

Ministry of AYUSH will participate in the festival as a government welfare partner and yoga and overall health check-ups will be organized during the festival. 4 disciplines of Ayush – Homeopathy, Naturopathy, Ayurveda and Yoga will be promoted. More than 14 cultural programs will be performed during the inauguration and dedication ceremony and will feature film stars and dance troupes from France, Spain and Goa. The inaugural ceremony will showcase the journey of Indian cinema over the past 100 years under the Azadi Ka Amrit festival category.

On this occasion, the Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Apurva Chandra said that for the first time, pavilions of different countries, states and film organizations have been constructed in the Film Bazaar category of IFFI. IFFI delegates can attend the pavilion at anytime and it will be open to the general public from 3pm to 6pm.
