New Delhi: Amazon has started laying off employees to reduce costs due to lack of profit for the past few months. Amazon has also said that it will lay off about 10,000 employees from various departments worldwide this week.
Although not officially informed, the layoff has started from Wednesday. However, in a recent statement, Amazon confirmed that it has confirmed layoffs due to the overall economic downturn.
In an official statement issued by Amazon, David Limp, senior vice president of Devices and Services, confirmed that the company has already sent notices to the employees who will be laid off. He said that the adverse economic situation is like this.
The layoffs will affect Amazon’s employees worldwide, as well as its device organization, retail division and human resources. In an email sent to the employees to be laid off, the company asked them to give them a month or two to find another job in the company. If the said employees fail to find any new role or job in the company, then ‘Amazon’ will help them with separation payment payment, transitional benefits and external job placement.
