Social Pension Scheme: While government employees in various states of the country are demanding the restoration of the old Pension Scheme (OPS), the Andhra Pradesh government has taken a heartwarming decision.
Obviously, the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has agreed to increase the amount of pension by 10 percent. The Cabinet has approved to increase the social pension in the state from Rs.2500 to Rs.2750 per month. About 65 lakh pensioners of the state will get the benefit. 130.44 crore additional burden will be incurred.
Currently, there are 62 lakh pensioners in the state and 2.43 lakh will be connected to the government’s Social Pension Scheme this month. Enhanced pension will be paid to new pensioners and old pensioners from 1st January 2023. An official release issued by the government said that due to this change in pension, the government will incur an additional burden of Rs 130.44 crore per month.
