India rejects China's statement

New Delhi: China has opposed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Arunachal. China said yesterday that Shah’s visit violated China’s geographical sovereignty. However, India rejected this remark of China. Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi issued a statement today saying, “We completely reject the comments made by the Chinese official spokesperson. Like other states of India, Indian leaders visit Arunachal Pradesh from time to time. Arunachal Pradesh was, is and will continue to be an integral part of India, Bagchi said.

Notably, Chinese spokesperson Wang Wenbin said yesterday that Zhangnan is China’s territory. He said that the visit of Indian officials to Zhangnan violated China’s geographical sovereignty and would not be conducive to maintaining peace and stability along the border. Earlier this month, China renamed 11 places in Arunachal. After India held the G-20 meeting in Arunachal Pradesh, China responded to it.
