Cuttack, 23/04: If you search for Aquarius Fair on Google, you will find its special website. In which all the facts and information related to the fair are kept. Tourists get an opportunity to know about the fair very easily. But if you search Google for the historical Bali Yatra of Cuttack, only a few links are found. Tourists do not get a chance to know about the fair as Bali Yatra does not have its own website. Not only that, there is no mention of Bali Yatra in the list of famous fairs of India. Which is very unfortunate for Odia .
The actual situation is that the campaigning is not given as much importance as it should be. Despite hundreds of years of history associated with it, Bali Yatra has not been listed as a national fair. However, it would not be an exaggeration to say that Odisha government and Cuttack district administration are directly responsible for this. Because the administration has not taken any visible steps towards the promotion and dissemination of the fair.
Some of the famous fairs in India that come up on Google are Kumbh Mela, Ambubachi Mela in Assam, Baneshwar Mela in Rajasthan, Gangesagar Mela in West Bengal, Sonepur Cattle Fair in Bihar, Nauchandi Mela in Uttar Pradesh, Surajkund Mela in Haryana, Thrissur Mela in Kerala, Medharam Yatra in Telangana, Madhabpur Mela in Gujarat. The fair is in the limelight today. But it can be said that it is very unfortunate that the name of Bali Yatra is not included in it.
During the 9/10 day journey, lakhs of people meet every day. During the holidays, the number of viewers exceeds about 5 lakhs. National and international tourists visit Bali Yatra every year. Traders from different states from the national level are also involved here. Despite this, the people of Odisha are disappointed that Bali Yatra is not in the list of national fairs. Therefore, there is a demand to take special steps towards promoting Bali Yatra with national status.
