Bhubaneswar to Cuttack metro train issue: MP Aparajita Sarangi writes letter to Chief Minister
Governor Professor Ganesh Lal said in the first session of the 16th Legislative Assembly that the state government is planning to start a metro train service from the historic city of Bhubaneswar to the silver city of Cuttack.
Bhubaneswar: Lok Sabha MP Aparajita Sharangi has expressed interest in starting metro train service from Bhubaneswar to Cuttack. She mentioned in her twitter that she discussed the Metro Rail Policy-2017 with officials of the Ministry of Urban Development. She tweeted, “There is a need for metro trains in the twin cities due to the growing population. I myself have written a letter to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs requesting it.” A letter has been written requesting Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to send a proposal to the Ministry for necessary assistance.
Notably, Governor Professor Ganesh Lal said in the first session of the 16th Legislative Assembly that the state government is planning to start a metro train service from the historic city of Bhubaneswar to the silver city of Cuttack. In this regard, the ruling BJD also promised in the election campaign. So everyone had hope that metro train will run in Dittanagari. But this declaration remains only a dream. Because the central government made it clear that the metro train cannot run in Odisha for the next 20 years, i.e. till 2041.
Last year, then Union Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that the Odisha government has not made any proposal regarding the metro rail network. The state government has to initiate advance planning, make improvements and raise funds for the metro trains in the state. But all this happens after the proposal of the state government. However, no proposal has come from Odisha.
