New Delhi: On September 5, the by-election will be held for seven assembly seats in six states. The Election Commission of India has announced that the results will be published on September 8.

Out of these 7 Assembly seats, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Kerala, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand have one seat each while Tripura has 2 seats. The Election Commission informed that polling will be held in Ghosi in Uttar Pradesh, Bageshwar in Uttarakhand, Dhupgudi in Bengal, Dumari in Jharkhand, Puthupally in Kerala, Buxnagar in Tripura and Dhanpur. Out of these 7 seats, 5 seats fell vacant due to the death of MLAs and the resignation of candidates in the other 2 seats. Elections are being held in these seats.

The Election Commission has said that due to the death of Jagarnath Mahato, a by-election is being held in Jharkhand’s Dumri seat. Due to the death of former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in Puthupally, Kerala, the election became urgent.

The notification for these elections will be published on 10th August. Similarly, the last date for submission of nomination papers is August 17, while the last date for withdrawal is August 21. The votes will be accepted on September 5 and the results will be announced on September 8.
