Cuttack: There is a staff crisis in the SCB Medical ECG system. Only 9 employees are doing ECG of nearly 10 thousand patients per month. Due to staff crisis, the cardiology department has been locked in the ECG center since 8 pm. 7 technicians are posted in trauma and non-trauma casualty and 2 in medicine department OPD.
Due to lack of staff, not many ECG tests can be done and patients have to wait for days. According to special sources, some technicians of SCB Medical have planned to meet the Health Secretary on Monday regarding such situation. The notification was published in the month of December 2010 for the recruitment of ECG Technician. 4 people were recruited in the first phase. While trauma and non-trauma casualty work in one building, they were given responsibility here. Trauma and non-trauma casualty are now working separately.
Therefore, it is difficult for the said technician who works according to the shift to examine the patients in two cases at the same time. Also, there is no ECG test system in the city hospital. So many patients are coming to SCB from City Hospital only for ECG test. Three people have been recruited in the cardiology department under the health development plan. They are on shift duty from 8 am to 8 pm. If any cardiologist needs an ECG after 8 pm they also have to bring casualty. The technicians, who have been working for 11 years, have not been given permanent employment, so there is dissatisfaction
