New Delhi: With the help of Interpol, FBI, foreign police and police forces of several states, the CBI launched Operation Chakra on Tuesday to nab cybercriminals involved in financial crimes, government officials said.

During the above raids conducted at 115 locations, the CBI registered 11 cases against cyber criminals involved in internet financial fraud. They informed that the CBI raided 87 places while the state police raided 28 places.

In a statement issued by the CBI, the objective of the operation is to dismantle the infrastructure of transnational cybercrime gangs in India and bring to justice the individuals involved in such unethical activities in India.

Police forces of eight states and Union Territories like Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Assam, Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh and Haryana participated in this campaign.

During the raid, the CBI has recovered about Rs 1.8 crore in cash, 1.5 kg of gold and has ‘frozen’ bank accounts containing Rs 1.89 crore, the statement said.

Apart from this, a number of digital devices such as mobile phones and laptops were also recovered, a spokesperson said.
