Kolkata: The CBI today raided six places, including the residence of West Bengal Law Minister Moloy Ghatak, in connection with the coal smuggling case.
Despite being issued several summons, Moloy Ghatak has not appearing CBI office. Minister Ghatak was not present when the CBI team reached his residence to investigate. In the case of coal corruption, the CBI has raided five places in Kolkata and one in Asansol.
In this, CBI officials raided three houses of Ghatak in Asansol in West Bardhaman district and another house in Lake Garden, Kolkata. There are also women officers in the raids of CBI team.
Asansol North MLA Moloy Ghatak appeared at the Delhi office of the ED only once before for questioning in connection with the coal scam. However, he avoided several more summons issued by ED in this case.
A CBI officer said, “Since his name has come up in the coal smuggling case, it has become necessary for us to dig into his role in it.” We have evidence of Ghatak’s involvement in this scam.
