New Delhi: General Anil Chauhan said on the occasion of taking charge of the ‘Chief of Defense Staff’ today that he is happy to receive the highest rank of the Indian Armed Forces.
In his first speech after accepting the ‘Guard of Honour’ at the South Block of Delhi, CDS General Anil Chauhan said, “I am happy to assume the responsibility of the highest echelon of the Indian Armed Forces.” As the Chief of Defense Staff, I will strive to fulfill the expectations of the three defense forces. Together we will face all challenges and difficulties.
Before taking charge today, CDS General Chauhan paid tributes to the martyred Indian soldiers at the National War Memorial in India Gate. He then received a 3-strong guard of honor on the lawn in the South Block of Raisina Hills.
Army Chief General Manoj Pandey, Air Force Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Navy Chief Vice Admiral SN Ghormade and Air Marshal BR Krishna was also present.
After Bipin Rawat, Anil Chauhan is India’s second ‘CDS’. He took a picture with his wife Anupama Chauhan after taking office today.
It is worth noting that 61-year-old ‘CDS’ Chauhan will also work as secretary in the Army Affairs Department. This is the first time in the country that a retired ‘three-star’ officer (Anil Chauhan) has been brought back and assigned a ‘four-star’ job.
