19-year-old student who failed 2 times in ‘NEET’ hanged to death: Father also hanged himself in mourning for his son

CHENNAI: A 19-year-old medical student was found dead after hanging himself from his house in Chrompet area of Chennai on Saturday, police said.

After being rescued, he was immediately taken to the hospital. However, the doctors declared that he was brought dead.

According to the information gathered, the dead student is Jegadeeswaran. He was depressed after failing to score the required marks in the ‘NEET’ exam twice.

Even though the police did not find any ‘suicide note’ from the spot, his father Selvasekar blamed ‘NEET’ administration for his son’s death.

However, due to mourning for his son, he also hanged himself on Sunday night. Before his death, Selvasekar said that he was ready to protest to remove ‘NEET’ from Tamil Nadu.

Expressing grief over this incident, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin urged the students not to take such extreme measures. He said, I am mourning the death of Jegadeeswaran and his father Selvasekar. Let it be the final death of the ‘NEET’.
