New Delhi: A Sukhoi-30 and a Mirage 2000 fighter jet of the Indian Air Force crashed near Morena in Madhya Pradesh today, the Delhi Defense Review tweeted.
The above aircraft took off from Maharajpur Airport in Gwalior for the training exercise.
Search and rescue operations have been started after the accident.
The Indian Air Force has ordered a ‘Court of Inquiry’ to find out whether the plane crash took place in the air.
Morena District Collector said, “The plane crashed on at 5:30 am. Both pilots ejected safely from the Sukhoi-30. They are slightly injured. The entire area has been cordoned off. The local administration has reached the spot.
Morena Deputy Collector Ankit Asthana said, the police and local administration are at the spot for the rescue operation of the pilot. Both the pilots who suffered minor injuries are out of danger.
According to reports, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is gathering the latest information from the CDS and Air Force Chief regarding the accident.
Apart from this, the police confirmed today that several chartered planes have crashed in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur. District Magistrate Alok Ranjan said, administrative officers and police have been sent to the plane crash site.
