Jammu: Former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad today announced the name of his new political party (Democratic Azad Party) and unveiled the party’s flag.
A few months after severing ties with the Congress, Azad today launched his own new political party. Addressing a press conference held in Jammu today on this occasion, he said, “I am grateful to the regional and national media. This party will be a fully democratic party as we are inspired by independent thoughts and ideals.
About 1,500 names came for my new party in Urdu and Sanskrit. A combination of Hindi and Urdu is ‘Hindustani’. We wanted the name to be democratic, peaceful and independent.
Ghulam Nabi Azad spoke to workers and leaders on Sunday before calling a press conference today to unveil his new political party.
He said, we have not consulted any other party to form a new party. My party is inspired by the ideals of Gandhiji.
In his first public meeting in Jammu after leaving the Congress, he announced that he would start his own political party. That party will focus on achieving full statehood.
