Disqualification of Jharkhand Chief Minister; The Election Commission gave a letter to the Governor

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has sent its opinion letter to the Governor of Jharkhand Ramesh Bais regarding the petition to disqualify Chief Minister Hemant Soren from the post of MLA on the charge of violating the ‘Electoral’ law and taking mining ‘lease’ in his name.

This morning the opinion letter of the Election Commission of India has been sent to the Jharkhand Raj Bhawan .The news agency ‘Press Trust of India’ has reported.

The Governor of Jharkhand had earlier referred the incident to the Election Commission.

The Election Commission of India has recommended the proposal to disqualify Soren, a senior government official said. Now it is up to the Governor to take action on the opinion of the Election Commission. Governor Ramesh Bais is in the national capital Delhi from Monday on personal business. He is supposed to return to Ranchi today.

The state’s opposition party ‘BJP’ complained to the Jharkhand Governor that Soren should be disqualified from the assembly for taking lucrative business leases like stone chips mining lease in his name.

Senior government officials declined to say what else was included in the recommendation letter sent by the Election Commission of India to the governor. They said that it will be shared after the completion of the medical process in the governor’s office.
