Draupadi Murmu became the second woman President flew in Sukhoi

New Delhi: President Draupadi Murmu flew in Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jet on Saturday. Wearing an anti-gravity suit, Murmu took off in a fighter jet from Tezpur Air Force Station in Assam. The President is the Supreme Commander of the Indian Army. She flew in a fighter jet for about 25 minutes. During the flight, the President saw the scenery of Brahmaputra and Tezpur Valley along with Himalayas.

After the flight back, the President told reporters that it felt good. President Draupadi Murmu is currently on a 3-day visit to Assam. When Murmu reached Tezpur from Guwahati, Air Marshal SP Dharkard, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma escorted her from the air force station. Murmu was given a guard of honor by members of the Air Force when she arrived at the Tezpur Air Force Base. The President also posed for a photo with the pilots and officers in front of the fighter jets. Murmu became the second woman President of India to fly a fighter jet. Earlier in 2009, former President Pratibha Patil also flew in a fighter jet.
