Mumbai: Death threats against former Necrotic Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede are circulating on social media.

A Twitter handle named ‘Aman’ sent a threatening message to Sameer Wankhede on August 14. “You know what you did, you have to account for it,” the person wrote in the message.

Another message read, “Let’s finish you off.” (You will be punished.)

After receiving the above message, Sameer Wankhede lodged a complaint with Goregaon police. On Thursday, Wankhede’s statement was recorded and the police started the process of registering an FIR.

The ‘Twitter’ handle that received the death threats has no followers. Police said that it is suspected that the said account was opened with the intention of threatening Wankhede.

It is worth noting that in October 2021, the former field director of NCB’s Mumbai office was accused of “Mumbai Cruise”. In this raid, he arrested 19 people, including Aryan, the son of popular Hindi film actor Shah Rukh Khan.
