58 dead in two days due to floods and landslides in various states

New Delhi: In the last 48 hours, 58 people have died and 17 people are missing due to heavy rains, flash floods and landslides in different states of the country. Most of the deaths occurred in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Odisha. In Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, hundreds of villages have been severely affected by the floods and 50 villages have been cut off from the outside source. Road communication has been disrupted due to the destruction of roads and poles. More than 15 thousand people have been shifted to safety places in Himachal as heavy rain is expected for the next two days. Mandi, Kangra and Chamba districts of Himachal suffered extensive damage, but there was no information about the missing persons. 8 members of a family died after a house collapsed in Mandi flood.

A massive search operation has been launched today in the flood-affected areas of Dehradun, Tihari and podi in Uttarakhand to trace the missing persons. 12 people are missing in the flood in this area. The government has informed that 36 people have died in Himachal in the last 3 days. Fifteen thousand people have been displaced and have taken refuge in various relief camps.
