Miami: Indian Teen Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa defeated world number one Magnus Carlsen of Norway in the final round of the FTX Crypto Cup chess tournament. The 17-year-old grandmaster lost to Carlsen in a tiebreaker (4-2) in the seventh round on Monday. The first two games of the match played between Carlson and Praggnanandhaa were tied at 2-2. Praggnanandhaa won both the tie-break games. This year, the world number one lost twice in online competitions. Despite this victory, he has not been able to occupy the top spot. Carlsen (16 points) was at the top while Praggnanandhaa (15 points) was in the second place and became the runner-up. Alireza Feroza was third with 15 points.
