Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida arrived in India on a 27-hour visit

New Delhi: Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida arrived in New Delhi this morning to enhance bilateral ties in several areas including defense and security, trade and investment and high technology.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will discuss the importance of India’s presidency in G20 and Japan’s presidency in G7 today.

Additionally, during the visit, the Japanese Prime Minister may talk about his plans for a free and independent Indo-Pacific region. Kishida is also expected to emphasize India’s growing role in the region.

According to special sources, the two leaders will hold extensive discussions to increase China’s military dominance in the Indo-Pacific region.

Japanese Prime Minister Kishida, who is on a 27-hour visit to India, is expected to unveil his ‘Free and Open Indo-Pacific Plan for Peace’ while addressing a leading intellectual gathering this afternoon.

At the prestigious Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore in June last year, Prime Minister Kishida said that he will present a plan for the Indo-Pacific next spring.
