Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Modi’s mother Heeraben Modi was cremated at Gandhinagar crematorium this morning. After setting fire to his mother’s pyre, he paid his last respects by joining hands.
Prime Minister’s brother Somabhai and other family members & relatives including Chief Minister of Gujarat were also present at the cremation.
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Ahmedabad early this morning after receiving the news that Heeraben breathed his last at 3.30 pm while undergoing treatment in a hospital in Ahmedabad. After that, he went to Gandhinagar for his mother’s last rites.
Many leaders mourned the death of Prime Minister Modi’s mother. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi wrote on Twitter, “The news of the death of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Smt. Modi is very sad. My deepest condolences and respect to him and his family at this time of sorrow.
