Hockey World Cup Bhubaneswar: The glorious history of hockey in Odisha and the hosting of two consecutive Men’s Hockey World Cups in the state will be included in NCERT books.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced this while attending an all-party meeting for smooth organization of FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup-2023 in Odisha.
The Union Minister also requested to promote the tradition and culture of Odisha in the mega sports event.
“Seven athletes from Odisha participated in the last Olympics. Dharmendra Pradhan said that the state government and all of us should try to produce at least 100 good quality athletes in Odisha by 2036 to represent the country in the Olympics.
The Union Minister stressed on people’s participation for cleanliness in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, two venues for FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup-2023.
He suggested the state government to prepare a coffee table book on the culture and history of Odisha in the languages of 16 countries participating in the mega programme.
He suggested the branding of the Rourkela-Bhubaneswar railway line to promote the this World Cup. The state government should take necessary steps to gift our handicrafts to the players of the tournament. The Union Minister said that millet based food should be served to the players.
