India sends 9 satellites into space on ‘PSLV-C54’ rocket

New Delhi: Today, ISRO successfully launched 9 satellites, including 8 ultra-small satellites, into space from the first launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota on PSLV-C54 rocket.

The main satellite called ‘OceanSat-3’, including ‘Earth Observation Satellite-6’, with a total weight of 321 tons, was launched by a 44.4 meter long ‘Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle’ or rocket.

The above 8 small artificial satellites (nanosatellites) have all been built by private companies and jointly by India and Bhutan. Earth Observation Satellite-6 is the third-generation satellite of the Oceansat series. This artificial satellite has been launched for marine studies.

PSLV-C54

Besides, ‘PSLV-C54‘ also carried a ‘technology demonstrator’ nano satellite named ‘Anand’. Its aim is to demonstrate the potential and commercial applications of miniaturized earth-observation cameras.
