Indian Open National Para Athletics: Jayanthi wins gold, Rashmi bronze

A total of 272 contestants from 5 countries participated in the two-day competition held at the Srikanthirava Stadium in Bengaluru.

Bhubaneswar: Odisha bagged 2 medals on the first day of the 4th India Open National Para Athletics Competition which began in Bengaluru on Thursday. A total of 272 contestants from 5 countries participated in the two-day competition held at the Srikanthirava Stadium in Bengaluru. Odia girl Jayanti Behera won gold in T-47 sq. 100m while Rashmiranjan Mallik won bronze medal in T-44 sq. 100m. Jayanthi finished the race with a time of 13.23 seconds and won the gold medal with first place.

In this category, two Sri Lankan stars Kumudhu Priyanka (13.47 seconds) and Janni Dhannajay (13.90 seconds) won silver and bronze medals respectively. On the other hand, Rashmiranjan finished the 100m race with a time of 12.32 seconds and got the third position. He won the bronze medal while Maharashtra’s Pranab Desai (11.75) and Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Indoka (11.77) bagged gold and silver respectively.
