Bengaluru: Speculations have started that India’s Mars Orbiter has run out of fuel and batteries.

The Mars Orbiter Mission'' built at a cost of Rs 450 crore was lifted off on November 5, 2013 inPSLV-C25”. The spacecraft was successfully launched into orbit around Mars on September 24, 2014.

“PTI” has reported that there is no more fuel in it after recovering it from ISRO’s special source. The satellite battery is also dead. Communication with the vehicle has also been disrupted.

However, ISRO has not officially given any information in this regard.

Officials of ‘ISRO’ said, this orbiter, which is scheduled to work for 6 months, has been working for about 8 years. ‘Mangalyaan’ has performed its duties and produced remarkable scientific results. It was launched experimentally. It carried 5 ‘scientific payloads’ weighing a total of 15 kg. They collected data on ‘surface geology’, ‘morphology’, ‘atmospheric processes’, ‘surface temperature’ and ‘atmospheric escape process.’.

The said ‘payload’ or instruments are, ‘Mars Color Camera’, ‘Thermal Infrared Imaging Spectrometer’, ‘Methane Sensor for Mars’, ‘Mars Exospheric Neutral Composition Analyser’ and ‘Lyman Alpha Photometer’.

The ‘Mars Color Camera’ has taken more than 10,000 photos and they have been published in the ‘Mars Atlas’. Later, there are plans to send another Mars rover to Mars, but it has not been officially announced.
