New Delhi: Former Governor of West Bengal and ‘NDA’ candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar took oath as the 14th Vice President of India today.

The newly elected President of the country Draupadi Murmu administered the oath to him at the President’s House. Many senior leaders and ministers including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former President Ram Nath Kovind, former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla were present at the swearing-in ceremony.

Before arriving at the President’s House and taking oath, Dhankhard visited the Rajghat in Delhi and paid his respects at the tomb of Mahatma Gandhi the founder of the nation.

It is worth noting that NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar was elected as the Vice President of the country on August 6 after defeating the opposition candidate Margaret Alva. Dhankhad got 528 votes while Alva got 182 votes. Out of total votes, 15 votes were rejected.

According to the country’s constitution, the Vice President Dhankhad presides over the Rajya Sabha.
