New Delhi 26.7: The country is celebrating Kargil Vijay Diwas today (July 26). 23 years ago, the Indian Army gave a strong response to Pakistan in the Kargil war. The Kargil war lasted for 60 days. This battle was named Operation Vijay. In this war 527 Indian jawans were martyred while fighting with Pakistan.
In an interview of Shoaib Akhtar with Pakistani news channel Ary News two years ago, he said that he went to fight the Kargil war against India twice, but he did not get the chance. Shoaib said no one should doubt my patriotism. Few people know that at that time I had a contract of Rs 2 crore with Nottingdham County Club. An even bigger deal was reached in 2002, But when the Kargil war happened everything was left behind.
Akhtar said, I moved to Lahore. Haji General came to me and said what are you doing? I said war is about to start, we will die as friends or we will die together. I will take care of everyone. I just came back from the county season. I went to fight twice. Shoaib also called his friends in Kashmir and asked them to prepare weapons to fight against India. He said, I called my friend in Kashmir and said get ready… I am coming.
