Seoul: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has said that his country’s ultimate goal is to acquire the world’s most powerful nuclear power, state media reported on Sunday.

In addition, Kim has also promoted some military officers involved in North Korea’s largest ballistic missile launch in recent years.

In his promotion order for military officers, Kim said, “Nuclear weapons are being developed to secure the sovereignty of the nation and the people.” North Korea’s goal is to have the most powerful fighting force in the world. Such fighting power would be unprecedented for this century.

He said that the new ‘Hwasong-17’ intercontinental ballistic missile, which was test-fired on November 18, is the most powerful weapon in the world. This proves that North Korea has the ability to build the strongest army in the world.

Without giving details, Kim Jong Un added, North Korean scientists have made remarkable progress in the development of technology to detect nuclear weapons in ballistic missiles.

“I hope they will expand and strengthen the country’s nuclear power at an extraordinary pace,” Kim said as he posed for photos alongside scientists, engineers, military officers and others involved in the missile tests.
