London: Liz Truss, the new Prime Minister of Britain and the foreign minister who won the leadership race of the Conservative Party, will be sworn in as the Prime Minister today. Liz Truss will be Britain’s 3rd female Prime Minister. Before her, 2 women Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May have become the Prime Minister of Britain.

In the results announced on Monday, she defeated former finance minister Rishi Sunak. Over the past few weeks, party members have been asked to vote for their favorite leader. 81,326 people voted in favor of Truss, while 60,399 voted for Sunak. Of the total 82.6 percent votes cast, Truss got 57 percent of the votes while Sunak got 42 percent of the votes.

At a public meeting on Monday, Truss thanked his supporters and called outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson her friend. As a conservative, she said she would govern the country and work to fulfill the promises made in 2019. She also said that she will take bold steps to reduce taxes and try to increase revenue. Truss asserted that the party will win the general elections to be held in 2024 under her leadership.
