Delhi Municipal Corporation Elections held Peacefully: Fate of 1349 Candidates in EVMs, Counting of votes will be on 7th

Delhi Municipal Corporation Elections held Peacefully

New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections were held peacefully today and around 50 percent polling was recorded till 5 pm. Elaborate arrangements were made by the Election Commission and the Delhi Police for smooth polling and 56 highly sensitive areas were monitored by drones. The election is a question of honor for both the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party today, with both parties making allegations of corruption against each other and trying hard to influence voters even on polling day.

More than 40 complaints were received from the police regarding distribution of liquor and money by BJP and Aam Aadmi Party. This time, 1349 candidates are in the field for 250 wards in the MCD election. Counting of votes will be on 7th. The Election Commission today allowed voters to carry mobile phones inside the polling booths and took strict measures to maintain order at each booth.

The villagers of Katewara of North West District have canceled their vote today. Alleging that there is no good road to the village and the villagers are deprived of essential facilities, people have rejected the vote. In the MCD election, there is a tough fight mainly between BJP and AAP while the Congress is also in the field.

This morning, when Delhi Pradesh Congress President Anil Chaudhary reached the Dallupara polling booth to cast his vote, his name was not on the voter list. Chaudhary, who could not vote, said that his name was removed from the list knowingly and that the BJP had a hand in it.
