The United States is preparing $2 billion in military aid to Ukraine, including long-range rockets
New Delhi: The United States of America is preparing $2 billion worth of military aid to Ukraine, including long-range rockets and other weapons, Reuters reports, gathering information from two government officials.
Equipment included in military aid package
The military aid package is believed to include equipment from the ‘Patriot Defense System’, ‘Precision-Guided Munitions’ and ‘Javelin Anti-Tank Weapons’. Government officials, who requested anonymity, said the weapons would be announced this week.
One of them, a government official, said that part of the military aid, which is expected to be $1.725 billion, will come from a fund called the “Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative”. Under the provisions of the fund, President Joe Biden can procure weapons from factories, not from US stockpiles.
The above funds include the ‘Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb’ made by ‘Boeing Co‘. This bomb can cover a distance of 150 km. It is said that the United States has not kept the request made by Ukraine to provide ‘ATACMS’ missiles with a range of 297 km.
Besides, the ‘Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative’ funds major items such as ‘Hawk Air Defence’, ‘Counter Drone System’, ‘Counter Artillery’ and ‘Air Surveillance Radar’, ‘Communication Equipment’, ‘Puma Drone’ and ‘Patriot’. “Reuters” reported that the equipment will be purchased.
