Mehsana (Gujarat): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today declared Modhera village in Mehsana district of Gujarat as the country’s first solar powered village. Arrangements have been made to run this village 24 hours 7 days a week with solar energy and the Prime Minister announced this village as the first ‘Solar Village’ in a public meeting held in Modhera on Sunday. These villagers will now get a pass on the electricity bill.
Recalling the history of Modhera village, the Prime Minister said that once upon a time, foreign invaders did very barbaric things to uproot this village. People were subjected to unimaginable oppression. Now this village is going to become an example in the world in terms of modernity, sustainability and environmental protection. This is going to be possible because of the determination of the residents of Modhera village. The Prime Minister said on the occasion that the government is making continuous efforts to take the country on the right path to keep the future generations safe.
