Who is Mohan Charan Majhi ? How he became CM of Odisha

Odisha: Keonjhar MLA Mohan Charan Majhi, who is known as the tribal face of the state BJP, has been announced as the chief minister of Odisha by the BJP. After the announcement of his name as Chief Minister, there is a wave of happiness in Keonjhar district. His journey from Acharya of Jhumpura SaraSwati Sishu Vidya Mandir to Chief Minister has been through many ups and downs.

After passing his matriculation in 1987 from Jhumpura High School, he completed his +2 in Arts from Anandpur College and Bachelors in Arts from Samantha Chandrasekhar College, Champua. He later completed his Bachelor’s degree from Dhenkanal College of Law. After that he started working as Guruji of SaraSwati Sishu Vidya Mandir Jhumpura.

Later he left teaching and entered politics. In 1997, he became the chief of Raikala Panchayat. Later, he has been elected 4 times from the Keonhar seat. In 2000, he was elected as an MLA in the first opportunity during the BJP-BJD alliance. He then won for the second time in 2004. After his performance, the party gave him the important responsibility of Deputy General Secretary.

He was defeated consecutively in the 2009 and 2014 elections. However, he strengthened his organization and was always with the people. In 2019, BJD candidates won in 5 out of 6 constituencies of Keonjhar district, while Mohan Charan Majhi contested as the only BJP candidate from Keonjhar seat. Later, he served as the chief secretary of the opposition party and stood up to the government on various issues.

Mohan Charan Majhi also served as the Chairman of the Assembly Public Accounts Committee. In this election, he won by a margin of 11 thousand 577 votes. It was rumored that he would get the ministerial post of an important department in the BJP government. However, the people of Keonjhar are happy after the party leadership elected him as the chief minister of the state.
