Money Laundering Case : ED arrested ‘Gangster-politician’ Mukhtar Ansari’s son
Mukhtar, a 5-time MLA, is currently in jail in Banda, Uttar Pradesh. Last year, the ED interrogated 59-year-old Mukhtar in the above case.
New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate today arrested Abbas Ansari, the son of ‘Gangster-turned-politician’ Mukhtar Ansari, MLA of ‘Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party’, in the ‘Money Laundering’ case, government officials said today.
They said that 30-year-old Ansari was arrested after a long interrogation at the office of the Directorate of Prosecutions in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
They said, he has been arrested in the case of ‘money laundering‘ which is being investigated against his father and his family.
It is worth noting that, last month, the ED had ‘attached’ the property of Mukhtar Ansari worth Rs 1.48 crore.
Mukhtar, a 5-time MLA, is currently in jail in Banda, Uttar Pradesh. Last year, the ED interrogated 59-year-old Mukhtar in the above case.
In August, the ED raided the Delhi residence of his elder brother and BSP MP Afzal Ansari and other places in Ghazipur, Mohammedabad, Maun and Lucknow.
After the Uttar Pradesh Police registered multiple FIRs, Mukhtar was accused of money laundering. Besides, 2 FIRs were also registered against ‘Bikash Construction’ run by his wife and two daughters-in-law and others.
The ED was looking into Mukhtar, who has 49 criminal cases including land grabbing, murder and extortion.
