New Delhi: A major accident occurred at the Delhi airport on Friday night. The engine of Indigo’s Delhi-Bengal flight was found to have caught fire during take-off on Friday. In this incident, the passengers inside the plane were very scared. Priyanka, one of the passengers, told the media that the plane was on the runway. But the take-off would take off in a short time. Then I saw from my window that smoke was coming from the wing of the plane. After some time I could see the fire clearly. Then we informed the pilot. The pilot informed that this happened due to some technical reasons. That’s why the flight was grounded.’
As soon as the plane took off from the Delhi airport, the engine was found to be on fire, so it was immediately controlled and stopped. A full emergency was declared at the airport and the passengers were safely evacuated. No one was reported to have been injured in the incident. Passengers panicked after seeing the fire in the engine of Indigo flight 6E2131.
It is worth noting that on June 19 this year, a SpiceJet flight from Patna to Delhi caught fire shortly after take off. The plane was then made an emergency landing at the Patna airport. This has added to the concern as a number of malfunctions have come to seen on IndiGo and SpiceJet flights in the past few months.
