Prepare for 5G launch : Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnab

Airtel and Jio are expected to launch the first phase of their respective 5G services after the official announcement towards the end of this month.

New Delhi: Union Information and Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnab today asked telecom service providers to prepare for the launch of ‘5G‘ in India. He also tweeted that the ‘Spectrum Assignment Letter’ has already been issued.

Soon ‘5G’ service will be launched in India. In his Independence Day address to the nation, Prime Minister Modi also said that 5G services will be available earlier than expected. The Prime Minister also said that the speed of ‘5G’ will be 10 times faster than the speed of ‘4G’ in the country.

So, even before the official announcement of 5G services in the country, telecom operators like Reliance Jio and VI are rushing to hire engineers to develop 5G related products.

Airtel and Jio are expected to launch the first phase of their respective 5G services after the official announcement towards the end of this month.

Telecom operators have not given details regarding the ‘timeline’ of ‘5G’ launch in India.
