Cuttack: The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has issued a statement regarding the death of women’s cricketer Rajashri Swain. The OCA has refuted allegations of irregularities in the selection process.
OCA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Subrata Behera has responded to the incident and the family’s complaint. We are saddened to hear the news of Rajashri’s death. We lost an OCA registered player. No player is requested to take such extreme measures. There is no error in the selection process. Current performance is selected based on previous records. Rajashri was among 25 people. She was not among the 16 selected in the second round. A 16-member team was selected for the first three matches.
However, Rajashri’s body was found hanging from Athagad forest area of Brahminbasth this morning. The scientific team has reached the spot and continuing the investigation. A suicide note was also recovered from the spot. However, the suspense continues regarding the death of Rajashri Swain. On the one hand, the family blames the OCA for the girl’s death, on the other hand, the Odisha Cricket Association has clarified that there is no error in the selection process.
