New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha has been adjourned indefinitely today, 7 days before the scheduled time due to the increasing risk of rapid transmission of Covid-19.
While announcing the adjournment of the 258th session of the Rajya Sabha, Chairman Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar said that he feels honored to be a part of this great house.
Before announcing the adjournment of the session, he said, “This session has showcased wit, sarcasm, humor and intelligence.” I expect more from the experienced members in all these upcoming sessions. This session is 102% effective. The House completed 13 sittings in a total of 64 hours and 50 minutes.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar congratulated the members of the House in advance on the occasion of Badadina, Pongal, Lohri and other festivals and said, “Everyone should take necessary precautions to be vigilant against the growing covid epidemic.”
Union Minister Prahlad Joshi said, the winter session has been adjourned ahead of schedule by unanimous decision. I want Rahul Gandhi to continue the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’. There is already a record that wherever he goes, the Congress is defeated. But, hopefully he will follow the health guidelines.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge were present when the House adjourned.
