DGCA action on SpiceJet: 50% flights suspended till October 29

From April 1st to July 5th, after the frequent malfunctions of the Spice Jet aircraft, passengers and the government expressed concern about it

New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed some restrictions on the domestic airline company SpiceJet after repeated errors. In July, the DGCA had imposed restrictions on half of the company’s flights for two months, and now the deadline has been extended. 50% of the company’s flights cannot fly until October 29, 2022.

Therefore, in view of various inspections and response to show cause notices filed by SpiceJet, the DGCA on July 27 directed to limit the number of departures of SpiceJet to 50 percent for safe and reliable air transport services. The crackdown was said to continue for 8 weeks. Now this period has been extended.

On the 19th of June last, a plane departing from Patna made an emergency landing due to a fire in one of its wings. A major accident was averted due to the presence of wisdom of the pilot. Similarly, on July 5, the windshield of a SpiceJet plane was broken in Mumbai.
