In today’s match, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Sri Lanka made 162 runs for 6 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. On behalf of the team, Kushal Mendis played an explosive innings of 79 runs in just 44 balls. Similarly, Charith Aslanka scored 31 runs. But other Sri Lankan batsmen failed. Van Meekeren and Bas de Leede took 2 wickets each from the Netherlands.
The Netherlands, who played with a target of 163 runs, lost 9 wickets in 20 overs and scored only 146 runs. Opener Max O’Dowd scored 71 runs on behalf of the team. But the other batsmen of the team could not score big. On behalf of Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga took 3 wickets while Maheesh Theekshana took 2 wickets.
Super-12 matches will start from next Saturday i.e. October 22 in this World Cup. India will meet Pakistan in their first match on Sunday.
