New Delhi: The Tata Group will soon be seen manufacturing iPhones in India. And Tata Group, the country’s largest and oldest industrial conglomerate, will also be included in the list of iPhone manufacturers. And after that, Tata will be the first Indian company to manufacture the iPhone.
Tata Group to buy Taiwanese Wistron Group plant in South India. The deal is believed to be finalized soon. After which the Tata will jointly manufacture the iPhone in India with Wistron. The joint venture will have the largest stake in the Tata Assembly of Apple’s iPhone is done by Taiwanese Wistron and Foxconn Technology Group.
After Tata manufactures the iPhone, it will help challenge China. China currently dominates iPhone production. Apple wants to reduce its dependence on China for iPhone production, when 85 percent of all iPhones are made in China.
iPhone supply has been disrupted due to restrictions imposed in China after Corona. And according to reports, Tata Group’s contract with Wistron will expire before March 2023. After which the Tata will replace Wistron.
However, Tata has been continuously partnering with Apple. Tata manufactures components for the iPhone in Hosur, near Bangalore in Karnataka. In addition, Tata is going to open around 100 Apple stores and the first store will open in Mumbai.
