Fontaine-le-Comte: French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that condoms will be available for free in drugstores for 18 to 25 year olds in an effort to reduce unwanted pregnancy among young people.
Macron said in a debate held in Fontaine-le-Comte in the western French town of Poissers, this is a small revolution for contraception.
Free condoms for “unwanted pregnancy”
This year, the government announced the offer of free birth control to all young women below the age of 25. To make this offer even wider, the government has also made it applicable to those below 18 years of age. Because many young women are unable to afford contraceptives, they are forced into unwanted pregnancy.
Likewise, regarding overall reproductive education, President Macron said, “We’re not that good at it.” Reality is completely different from theory. We need to educate our teachers more in this regard.
Although face masks are not mandatory, Macron, who wore a face mask while addressing the debate, said he was following the Ministry of Health’s guidelines. There is a risk of increasing the number of covid infections as the festival days approach.
