US Airshow Accident :Two World War II-era planes collided with each other, 6 dead

Washington: Two World War II-era planes collided with each other on Saturday during an ‘Airshow’ demonstration in the skies over Dallas, Texas, federal officials said.

In a statement issued in connection with the above Airshow accident, the ‘Federal Aviation Administration’ said, ‘Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bomber and Bell P-63 Kingcobra fighter crashed in the sky above the ‘Dallas Executive Airport’ during the ‘Wings Over Dallas Air Show’ at 1.20 pm. Fighter planes have collided with each other and crashed.

All the events of the said incident have been recorded. Officials have not confirmed how many people have died in the Airshow accident. However, reports gathered that there were only six people on board the two planes. All are feared dead.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have launched an investigation into the crash.

In this still footage, which has been circulating on social media, a large World War II harvester B-17 is seen colliding with a smaller Bell P-63 KingCobra. As the plane crashes into pieces, it turns into two fireballs.

Notably, the four-engined bomber ‘B-17’ played a major role in the victory over Germany during World War II. Similarly, during World War II, the P-63 Kingcobra, developed by Bell Aircraft, was used exclusively by the Soviet Air Force.
