He is the second batsman to score a thousand runs in the World Cup. In the match against Bangladesh, Kohli scored 64 runs from 44 balls. After this, Virat Kohli became the highest run scorer in T20 World Cup. With this, Kohli has broken the record of former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene. Jayawardene has collected 1016 runs in 31 matches while Virat Kohli has scored 1065 runs in 25 matches.
Virat and Mahela Jayawardene are in the first and second places, while West Indies’ Chris Gayle (965 runs in 33 matches) is in the third place, India’s Rohit Sharma is in the fourth place (921 runs in 37 matches) and Sri Lanka’s Tillakratne Dilshan (897 runs in 35 matches) is in the fifth place.
