Voting Begins for Vice-Presidential Election; Voted by Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cast his first ballot after voting for the country's Vice President election began at 10 am today.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cast his first ballot after voting for the country’s Vice President election began at 10 am today.

After him, Union Minister Jitendra Singh, Ashwini Vaishnab, ‘BJP’ Chief Whip Rakesh Singh, ‘TRS’ MP and ‘YSRCP’ Raghuram Krishna Raju have also cast their votes.

Voting will continue till 5 pm. Counting will begin as soon as the polling is over and the Returning Officer will announce the name of the next Vice President late in the evening. On August 10 after the end of Vice President M.Venkaiah Naidu’s tenure the new Vice President will take oath on the 11th.

It is expected that the support for NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankhard, who is competing in the country’s vice-presidential election, has easily defeated the candidate of the united opposition party, Margaret Alva. The vote share of Margaret Alva, who has the support of TRS and AAP, is estimated to be around 200, while Dhankhard’s vote share is estimated to be 515.

Members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, including elected members, are voting in the vice-presidential election.
